Career & Professional Success Badge

The Career and Professional Success (CAPS) Digital Badge is coordinated by the Career Development Center as part of a greater WP Leads Digital Badge Program, which students can earn through their participation in extra-curricular experiences that includes attending workshops, cultural events, speaker presentations, participating in community service and civic engagement activities managed by the Office of Campus Activities, Service & Leadership.

The Career and Professional Success Badge (CAPS) helps you take the first step on your career journey. You will have the opportunity to discover key career readiness skills aimed at helping you navigate and prepare you to go from a WP Pioneer to a Professional. 

  • CAPS Badge Objectives
  • Through the completion of the Career and Professional Success Digital Badge students will be able to:

    • Develop self-awareness of personal interests, values, and skills
    • Explore how their values, interests, personality, skills (VIPS) connect to academic majors and career paths
    • Create professional career artifacts including a resume, cover letter, LinkedIn and Handshake profiles
    • Articulate skills and experiences to prospective employers and industry professionals
    • Demonstrate their career readiness at career fairs, networking events and employer-hosted events

    • Attend in-person or live virtual workshops & events that give credit for completing Modules 1, 2, 3 & 4.  
    • Complete our Online (asynchronous) Modules at your own pace. 
    • Complete a variation of both in-person & online modules.

      Where to Find Badge Eligible Programs & Events 

      Handshake 

      Log into Handshake using your WP email and password and visit the events tab for details of virtual and in-person events that count towards the badge modules. 

      To access the following LinkedIn Learning courses that count toward the badge, please log in to WP Connect using your username and password. In the search tab, insert LinkedIn Learning and connect your LinkedIn account to your student profile. Then you will be able to access the following courses for free.

  • Learn More About The Modules
  • MODULE 1: DISCOVER YOU

    • Students will be able to identify their key Values, Interests, Personality, and Skills by completing an online Career Assessment, through Pathway U.
    • Students will be able to explore how their top areas of interests, workplace preferences, and values align with academic majors, industries, and internship and job opportunities.
    • Students will develop a career readiness action plan that aligns with their academic and career goals.

    MODULE 2: BRAND YOU

    • Students will learn how to brand their skills and experience through resume & cover letter writing, the creation of a LinkedIn, and Handshake profile.
    • Students will be able to identify a resume style that best highlights their skills and experiences
    • Students will develop an understanding of how to utilize Handshake tools to support their career and internship search
    • Discover how to identify and best market-transferable skills

     MODULE 3: PROMOTE YOU

    • Students will learn how to articulate their skills and experience during interviewing and networking experiences.
    • Students will develop their mission-driven elevator pitch and gain practice through mock interviews
    • Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of how to conduct a professional internship & job search
    • Students will understand the role and importance of networking, informational interviews, LinkedIn, and career fairs in the job search process.

    MODULE 4:CAREER EVENT

    • Students have an option of attending a career community event (career fair, networking event, employer session, career meet-up) or scheduling a 1:1 appointment with their Career Coach.
    • Connect to Handshake to view all upcoming events and schedule an appointment with the Career Center.
