How to Register for New Jersey History Day Registration for NJHD opens in December. All participants must be registered in order to participate in a contest. Students and teachers begin by registering for a Regional Contest, using the website for that contest. Links will be posted here when registration opens. Even if you have registered and participated in NJ History Day in the past, you still have to create a new entry for this year's contest. Teachers must create their registration accounts first. Once they have done so, their students can create their accounts and add their entry information. Teachers: if you do not see your school name in the drop-down menu of schools, please email NJHistoryDay@wpunj.edu. Registration will close at 11:59 PM on February 1st, 2025. This is a hard and fast deadline. No late registrations are accepted. Special Instructions for Websites and Papers: Because these two categories are judged virtually, entries must be uploaded completely by the registration deadline. This means the process paper and annotated bibliography must be included. No edits may be made after the deadline. Documentaries, performances, and exhibits: These categories are judged in person at a contest. Therefore, you'll be able to present your process papers and annotated bibliographes at the competition. They do not need to be uploaded to your registration profile. You may continue working on them until competition day. State Contest Registration There is no need to register for the State contest. For those whose entries are advancing, registrations from the regional competitions carry over to the state competition. National Contest Registration If your entry advances to the National Contest, you will use a separate registration process to enter there. You will be contacted by the NJHD State Coordinator with instructions about registering.
